Interesting and ethical! Rice bags are super strong so it makes sense that recycled they would make perfect bags to carry your most precious things!
These recycled rice bags have been made in and around Kathmandu who are supported by Jeevankala, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to improve the lives of local artisans – particularly women – by giving them sustainable and well-paid work.
Other than being an unusual but practical fashion accessory, they express a very different message to the brand names seen everywhere.
The bags are 28 cm x 25 cm with an adjustable 1.5m strap.
It has a large flap with two fasteners to close the bag, and features a zipped internal pocket.
